Teamsters Local 31, the union representing our support staff (not teachers), voted in favour of a strike mandate on October 26, 2026.
No job action has been announced at this time. Schools remain open and operating as usual.
The union has 90 days from the October 26 strike vote to initiate job action and must provide at least 72 hours' notice before any strike action can begin.
The School District is actively planning to minimize disruption to students and families, with the goal of keeping students in school wherever it is safe and operationally possible. Should school closures occur at any time, school-based childcare services, StrongStart and other early learning programs would also be affected.
